Recently, I have been opening up about my facial sagging issues as well as the beauty products and aesthetic treatments that I have used to counter them. Today, I am going to touch on another viable option that works from within –collagen supplements.
Since graduation, I’ve been taking collagen in various forms. It is the main form of protein found in our skin, giving it elasticity for a more radiant and youthful appearance. Recently, I also found out that collagen is responsible for the structural integrity of bones, vital organs and they are good for our joints and muscles too! It’s a wonder supplement for the whole body J
Since collagen is naturally produced by our own body and found in our skin, nails and hair, why do we need to take collagen supplements?
That’s because our body’s collagen is constantly undergoing damage and we need to replenish them. There are 2 main causes of collagen damage, the first beginning from our mid-twenties when the body’s natural production of collagen begins to slow down. After the age of 30, the amount of collagen in the body begins to decrease at an alarming rate of 1 to 2% each year. Having joined the big 3 club late last year, it’s one of my worst realities to face >.< The loss of collagen in skin is responsible for sagging skin, dullness, fine lines and wrinkles. It will also adversely affect our hair, nails, joints and bones!
The second main cause is due to external factors such as UV rays and pollution that stimulate the production of collagen-degrading enzymes. All these means that on top of the natural decrease in our body’s collagen production, our body is also fighting collagen damage! Simply consuming collagen is not sufficient in maintaining collagen levels and now that I am fresh in my 30s, I need something with higher efficacy to help me replenish and reproduce more collagen.
ORBIS Collagen Re Force ‘double approach to collagen’ does just that!
Replenish – Containing an abundant 10,000mg of collagen, ORBIS Collagen Re Force replenishes the body’s collagen levels one bottle at a time. Its low-molecular collagen peptides are easily absorbed by the body, making collagen intake more efficient.
Reproduce – ORBIS Collagen Re Force contains Lemon Balm Extract that promotes the production of Endo180 in our bodies. I want to avoid going all scientific here, so let’s just think of it as a super protein which supports the process of breaking down damaged collagen. Our bodies can then reuse these broken down collagen for the generation and reproduction of new healthy collagen!
The next super ingredient is Long Pepper Extract that protects the blood vessels to ensure the smooth delivery of collagen to required areas of the body. ORBIS Collagen Re Force also contains Vitamin C which is an essential component for collagen synthesis.
The next big question is – does it taste thick and yucky?
Although I started taking collagen drinks in my mid-twenties, I only became more consistent in my late-twenties. The first reason being I didn’t have the foresight of how important collagen is for our bodies and only panicked one day when I noticed the first signs of aging had landed upon me with deeper smile lines and sagging eyelids >.< The second reason is taste. I am super lazy when it comes to taking supplements so I was easily de-motivated once I realized how nasty some of my collagen picks tasted. There was once it took me a full year to complete a box of 10 collagen bottles. The opposite is true – great tasting collagen motivates me to be more consistent with my supplements and I think many of you would agree with me too.
ORBIS Collagen Re Force has a yummy fruity flavour that comes from the “La France” pear. It is grown in Japan’s Yamagata Prefecture and sometimes also called “butter pear” (think butter beer with infused pear :P). I love pears and butter beer so the aromatic fragrance makes Collagen Re Force a delicious treat for my body and soul. There are really few good tasting collagen drinks in the market and ORBIS has one of them. Being packaged in a bottle makes it easy for me. It is best to consume 1 bottle a day before bedtime, so I place a couple of bottles by my bedside and pop one open to consume before sleeping. You can also keep them chilled in the fridge for a cool refreshing shot before bed 😉
I took a box of ORBIS Collagen Re Force over a period of 13 days.
Each box contains 10 bottles of 50ml and while I aimed to take a bottle every night before bedtime, I had a eventful month so there were some nights I knocked out without taking it 😛 Yet even with so many late nights, I was flaunting a more radiant and glowy complexion. I also noticed that blemishes on my skin were recovering at a faster rate and this is due to the body’s detection of increased collagen peptide concentrations that triggered wound repair response. It will probably take more time to see more changes in skin elasticity but I do believe that with continued consumption, I will be able to see even better results.
ORBIS Collagen Re Force is now available at all ORBIS stores, counters and online (https://bit.ly/2J70yEa) at S$56 (50mL x 10 bottles). From 22 March to 18 April 2019, you can
